The wind of the night ruffled Toby's clothes as he stood atop the building. The sleeves on his dress shirt ruffled, annoying Toby as he felt it move along his arms, it was a good thing that he had a sweater vest to keep the rest from doing so. Being so high up on the building made it even colder than it already was, and it wasn't even all that cold. Why he even depowered after getting up there in the first place didn't make much sense to him, although he did hate being Black Phantom for too long. "This is getting pretty tiring, I was told this was supposed to go down, and nothing has even happened since I've been watching, this better not be a fake job." He looked across Gotham again to check the docks one more time, still nothing. Brought his black fedora to his face to inspect it. He heard the ominous voice echo in his head, Don't preach patience if you ain't gonna practice it kid. Toby had gotten pretty tired of waiting this whole time, despite his usually large amount of patience.
Toby had gotten a call on his anonymous line for his detective work that there was something that was suppose to happen on the docks that was potentially dangerous. He hadn't made any trouble with big crime families so far, so he doubted it was a trap, the client said it was potentially dangerous, so he had to check it out. Finally he looked up to the spot again and saw some vans drive up, something was going to go down now. "Finally" Toby slowly put on his fedora, which would seem pointless since, as soon as he did, black smoke swirled around him and morphed him into the Black Phantom that criminals had begun to know. He felt warmer now that he had activated his powers. He jumped off of the twenty-something story building and landed lightly on a shorter building below, rushing to make his way toward the docks. Sure he could fly, but he needed to give them time to actually set themselves up, besides, he needed a bit more exercise. He kept his eyes forward, expecting to soon hit the criminals.

Brittany was of course out patrolling the city with her father and siblings. Her built in police scanner buzzed the nights events in her ear, as she crouched on the ledge of a building. The building itself wasn’t that tall, perhaps four or five stories, but it was tall enough for her to keep a watchful eye on her part of the city. Tonight it just so happened to be the docks, and she was on edge as the usual sounds of crime were absent this night. No screams for help, no gun shots rang out in the night, and no tires squealing in a hasty getaway fashion. They were not heard, and that was very unusual for Gotham City at night. Especially in this part of the city, and her gut told her that something wasn’t quite right.
Her instincts were of course right as she witnessed a few dark colored vans accompanied by some SUV’s and town cars of the same color drive up on the docks. She immediately recognized them as vehicles of the mobs of Gotham City. She activated her built in radio of her cowl that kept her connected with her siblings and father. ”Something is going down at the docks. The crime families had just drove up. I’m going in for a closer look.” She announced over the secure radio waves before turning to plan her approach. However before she could execute it, she saw a figure jump from a near by tall building onto a smaller one.
Britt sighed silently as she figured some ‘concerned’ citizen had decided to do the Wayne family's ‘extracurricular’ activity for them. They were not properly trained, nor did they have the correct equipment to do it. So she followed the figure, keeping to the shadows to stay hidden and out of sight. ”This is just fantastic. Not only do I have to keep myself from being seen, I have to keep this yahoo out of trouble as well. What a night…” She commented to herself sarcastically, as she followed the figure towards the mobs down below.

Hey kid, I think you've just grown a tail. Toby didn't look back, but he knew now that somebody was following him. He hadn't sensed any trace of whoever it was at all, so they were obviously trained, but he didn't think it was anyone dangerous. It wasn't so ridiculous for another hero to be on the same job. If it was some small-time guy, he was going to stop them, he knew what it was like to want to be a hero before gaining super powers, if it was a pro then whatever as well, it didn't really matter to Toby.
He crept up to the edge of the building above them, staying out of their sight. The groups of SUVs were parked on either side, facing each other, this made it obvious that the two were seperate factions, which meant that they were supposed to be making some kind of deal. His suspicions were confirmed when the groups exiting the SUVs came in for a conference, one from each side speaking with the others looking tough. He had the jump on them, it was obvious, but now wasn't the right time. They were just making the deal, what he wanted to know was what for, which meant he had to do some waiting. He sat there until they brought out whatever it was they were dealing with, wondering who might be following him in the meantime.

Britt ended up on a nearby building looking over the vehicles and the mob as well as the lone figure on the other rooftop. There was of course no way she was going to let him out of her sight, just like she was going to let whatever was going on below her get very far. Her mind of course was already processing the best optimal actions for her to take with the least causalities involved. She of course wanted evidence she could send to the Commissioner Gordon and have these mob men all tied up and ready for him like one large Christmas present.
However, she knew that she couldn’t do this successfully on her own and wondered where the rest of her family was. However before her thoughts progress any further, a shot whizzed past her head. ”Crap!” She muttered to herself, and quickly jumped off the ledge to land right in the middle of the mob group on the ground below her. Her training kicked in, and she began to quickly knock them off their feet with her martial arts. She switched on her built in radio and decided to update her family. ”I’ve been spotted. Time for plan B.” She announced over the secure radio waves as she dodged bullets and punches sent her way.

Toby flinched a bit as he heard the start of gunshots. He wasn't exactly afraid of them, but if everything is all clear and then suddenyl you hear a gun shot...well yeah. None of the bullets came his way, they hadn't even spotted him, he knew they didn't. He looked at where the Phantom had bothered him to spot and noticed the girl tailing him. She had given him away. Some scrub coming along and giving away his position. After taking a closer look, she started to look familiar. It was Batgirl, of all the people in Gotham, Batgirl had to go and mess up his plans. Ain't she supposed to be some type of expert on this? "Yes..." His voice was dark and ominous, sounding much different from his former self.
He looked down at the heroine who was smack in the middle of all of the mobsters who held guns, because it was such a hapening place to be. He wondered why Batman would bother with geniuses like herself. Well, it was time to pull her ass out of the fire. Toby concentrated dark energy in his hands and released a black and purple bal toward a small group of mobsters near her. The ball exploded and sent the small group flying. He jumped down and landed in front of her with ease. "How dumb are you screwing up a simple steakout?" He didn't bother looking at her, there were more important things in front of him. He crossed his arms in front of him and swiped them the opposite way, creating a slash of black energy that knocked back a large group in front of them. Unfortunately they started to get serious as more of them showed up with semi-automatic guns. Batgirl was going to hate this, but they had to escape.
He wouldn't have this trouble if she wasn't there. He quickly grabbed her and sunk into the ground with her. He knew she had to feel the same feeling that her body was completely hollow as they traveled intangibly through the earth, but hey, what could you do? They popped up inside of the warehouse near them. He stood her upright, knowing she should bounce around and feel groggy and nauseus from becoming intangible. They had some time now while they stood confused. "What the hells is wrong with you? Why would you go and mess this up? Even worse you put yourself in the middle of a shit storm, in turn putting me in it, get your head straight cause this ain't a game." He watched her, also aware of the htreat outside.

Britt’s main goal was to keep herself alive and in one piece, while she was attaching trackers to all the vehicles that had arrived at the scene. There was no way she was letting her father down, and if she had to die to make sure he could follow the key individuals in Gotham City’s mob families, then so be it. She had informed him and her sister that they had showed up in her patrol area, and did they show up…no. She seems to be on her own, and that was fine for her. Of course it looked like they truly didn’t care for her in her mind, and she was just a bit too preoccupied to dwell on that for long. She was too busy dodging bullets and fists that came her way. She of course winced under her cowl when she felt a bullet graze her right forearm. Then she grunted when another grazed her right upper arm. She was starting to lose this fight, and she was of course fine with it. However, would her sister and father even care that she died trying to get them a lead on the mobsters? She couldn’t entertain that notion for long as a black and purple ball whizzed by her and exploded, sending the small group of thugs flying backwards into a brick wall. She had just managed to retrieved another tracker, when the figure she was following landed in front of her.
”How dumb are you screwing up a simple steakout?”
She shot a glare his way, and was of course cursing him in her head. ’How dare he speak to me about something I’ve been doing for most of my childhood!’ She thought to herself, and she watched as he took care of another charging group of goons. ”I have it all under control. And who said I am screwing this up? You look like you’re the one screwing it up.” She seethed at him just as he grabbed her, and as he started to sink them into the ground she threw the last tracker to watch it stick on it’s intended target. She smirked to herself as they disappeared below ground.
Britt felt a bit sick as they ‘traveled’ through the ground and when they ‘landed’, they were inside a nearby warehouse. Her first and immediate reaction was to shove him away from her and glare at him once again through her cowl. She already hated this guy, and she doesn’t hate someone easily. It just wasn’t in her nature to hate someone without warning, but this time she did. This boy was cocky and a smart-alack, both of which she could do without. She suddenly felt the urge to put some distance between herself and this boy who was appearing to tell her how to do her job.
"What the hells is wrong with you? Why would you go and mess this up? Even worse you put yourself in the middle of a shit storm, in turn putting me in it, get your head straight cause this ain't a game."
She had enough of his stupid mouth, and she turned to face him. She heard groups of thugs shouting out side to find them, and keep her alive. They needed her to get to Batman, and what better way than to use his protégé to do it. She rolled her eyes at that, as if he would negotiate with them. However, they didn’t seem to be searching the warehouse where they currently were…yet, so she returned to shooting daggers at the boy in front of her. ”Who in the hell said I messed this up?! I knew what I was doing, dammit! I would have easily gotten away if you didn’t interfere, you amateur.” She shot at him, nearly forgetting to disguise her voice to keep her identity secret. However she managed and began to walk away from him, trying to put as much distance between the two of them as possible and as quickly as she can. She heard the thugs shout to search the warehouse, and she took her grappling hook out of her belt before shooting it into the rafters. She then ascended into the shadows just as the door was kicked open to reveal several goons enter the building and started to sweep it for them.

Should he really have been surprised at Batgirl's anger, well he was either way. He figured that Batman as well as his little apprentices, but it would appear that they're not all too good at staying calm at all, or at least this one wasn't. She didn't seem too good at what she was supposed to be doing. How was she supposed to keep this city safe if she couldn't keep herself safe? Not only did she seem like a bad detective with bad choices, but she found herself in the middle of a gun fight and got herself nearly injured. He sighed as he stood there, ignoring her comments. Is this seriously who these humans have to trust to clean the streets? "Apparently so. he commented silently.
Batgirl then shot away into the upper parts of the building to hide from the thugs, because apparently bats don't do well with bullets. Toby just walked into the middle as they opened the door, allowing himself to be viewed by them. "Get him!" one of them shouted. As soon as they did, Toby spun around and threw what seemed to be a shadow of himself at the thugs, allowing it to fall on to of them as a wrestler would from the top ropes, that succeeded in taking out three of about ten. They shot at him, but he allowed the shots to pass through him as he found a bunch of boxes to hide behind. Of course these wouldn't last long against bullets, but it bought him some breathing time. He knew that Batgirl was injured, so right now his main goal was either to take these guys out or let her escape, whichever came first. Although she acted like an amateur, she was a living person with good intentions, and he'd be damned if he allowed anyone like that to be hurt. He jumped out and fired straight beams of his dark energy, taking out each one with one hit, knocking down about four as well as the three that were just stunned by his attack earlier, while hiding behind more boxes. He was counting on Phantom to let him know if she escaped, otherwise he was expecting a bit of help. Of course he could've completely destroyed these low lives, but he didn't like to stress the Phantom's powers, sometimes it meant being out cold for a whole day, he still had to get used to them. He popped out again and began firing, waiting for some sort of help, or for a signification that she got away.

Britt did not chance leaving the warehouse and give her position away just yet. As long as she stayed in the shadows, she should just be fine. Instead she decided to see how this boy messes up an escape, and waited patiently for him to leave. However, she never did get the chance to do so as the goons kicked in the door to allow them entry. She of course sighed silently and withdrew a few batarangs from her utility belt. She poised ready to throw them down at the thugs who dare to break away from the group. She stayed at her perch, from where she could see nearly the entire warehouse.
Wave after wave of thugs entered the warehouse, and she sighed as she saw this fight ending badly for him. She fought the urge to leave him with the large crowd of mobsters, but it just wasn’t in her nature to do so. She took aim and releases her batarangs, watching them disarm five thugs with one sweep of each of them. She smirked to herself as she heard quite a few yelps from down below her perch. She leaned against a nearby support beam as her injuries reminded her that she wasn’t in the best of shape to fight crime.
