Ryan possesses the mutant ability to project a beam of concussive, ruby-colored force from his eyes. Ryan's eyes are no longer the complex organic jelly that utilizes the visible spectrum of light to see the world around it. Instead, they are inter-dimensional apertures between this universe and another, non-Einsteinium universe, where physical laws as we know them do not pertain. This non-Einsteinium universe is filled with particles that resemble photons, yet they interact with this universe's particles by transferring kinetic energy in the form of gravitons (the particle of gravitation). These particles generate great, directional concussive force when they interact with the objects of this universe.

Ryan's mind has a particular psionic field that is attuned to the forces that maintain the apertures that have taken the place of his eyes. Because his mind's psionic field envelops his body, it automatically shunts the other-dimensional particles back into their point of origin when they collide with his body. Thus, his body is protected from the effects of the particles, and even the thin membrane of his eyelids is sufficient to block the emission of energy. The synthetic ruby quartz crystal used to fashion the lenses of Ryan's eyeglasses and visor is resonant to his minds' psionic field and is similarly protected.

The width of Ryan's eye-blast seems to be focused by his mind's psionic field with the same autonomic function that regulated his orinal eyes' ability to focus. As Ryan focuses, the size of the aperture changes and thus act as a valve to control the flow of particles and beam's relative power. The height of Ryan's eye-blast is controlled by his visor's adjustable slit. His narrowest beam, about the diameter of a pencil at a distance of 4 feet has a force of about 2 pounds per square inch. His broadest beam, about 90 feet across at a distance of 50 feet, has a force of about 10 pounds per square inch. His most powerful eye-blast is a beam 4 feet across which, at a distance of 50 feet, has a force of 500 pounds per square inch. The maximum angular measurement of Ryan's eye-blast is equivalent to a wide-angle 35mm camera lens field of view (90 degree measured diagonally, or the angle subtended by holding this magazine's pages spread open, upright at 9.5 inches from your eyes). The minimum angular measurement is equivalent to the angle that the thickness of a pencil would subtend at 4 feet (3.5 degree, about a quarter of an inch viewed at 4 feet). The beam's effective range is about 2,000 feet, at which point a 1-inch beam has spread out to 10 feet square, and then has a pressure of .38 pounds per square inch. Ryan's maximum force is sufficient to tip over a filled 5,000 gallon tank at a distance of 20 feet, or puncture a 1-inch carbon-steel plate at a distance of 2 feet.

The extra dimensional supply of energy for Ryan's eye-blast is practically infinite. Thus, so long as Ryan's psionic field is active (which is constantly), there is the potential to emit energy. The only limit to the eye-blast is the mental fatigue of focusing constantly. After about 15 minute of constant usage, the psionic field subsides and allows only a slight leakage of energy to pass through the aperture. Ryan's metabolism will recover sufficiently for him to continue in about an additional 15 minutes.


While Ryan is packing some serious punch behind his eyelids, he is still mortal, and thus human. He can still be injured, shot, drowned, killed, and so on. Ryan is highly competitive and sometimes will do whatever it takes to achieve his objective. He has learned the value of playing by the rules, but if there’s a chance someone could beat him, he has the tendency to become a bit more rash in his actions. He also can be a colossal dick when someone is questioning his authority. He was put in charge for a reason and he will remind his team of that if he has to. Because of this, he can be a bit difficult to relate to at times.

There is also, a huge weakness in regards to his control. He cannot shut off the constant stream of concussive force shooting from his eyes and has to, thus, wear ruby quarts glasses to keep the energy from leveling everything he looks at. In the field he wears a visor, designed by Xavier like his father’s. There are theories in regards to the reason as to why he is unable to stop his eye beams. One of which is because of a head injury he suffered as a child. In all actuality, it is a mental block that he has placed on himself. Because of the force he is capable of wielding, Ryan is terrified of using his powers to their true potential like his father was before him; a somewhat hypocritical quality considering part of his job is to push his comrades to be their best.

PERSONALITY:

Ryan is someone who is very confident and can sometimes be seen as cocky because of his confidence, especially as he knows that he is very adapt with his powers and can do many things with them. Even though he is confident with his powers he is also nervous because he does not have complete contol of his powers all of the time and he fears hurting people if he loses contol of his powers and constantly fights to keep control of his powers and thankfully he hasn;t lost control of his powers before unlike his father had.

Ryan is also someone that is loyal and friendly. He will openly approach people for their friendship and once he has their friendship he will defend them until the ends of the earth and will not allow anything to happen to them. He is immesenly loyal to the second generation of the x men that he is apart of himself,

Ryan believes very much in the philsophy and teachings of Charles Xavier and that mutants and humans should be trying to work in harmony with each other and not fighting like Magneto wants. Ryan has since believed that this will be harder than he first thought as he has gone back in time to stop Magneto but he believes as they know what had happened the first time it is now more achieveable.

HISTORY:

Ryan Drake Summers was born to Scott and Jean Summers 23 years ago. Scott was the leader of the X men and Jean was the medical doctor of the team. Jean gave birth to their son not long after the battle on Liberty island after Magneto had captured the young mutant Rogue. After the birth of baby Ryan the whole school had good news to go along with the fact that the whole human world was being more and more aware of the mutants that also inhabited the world with them, when Stryker attacked the X school baby Ryan had been taken to his grandparents on Jean’s side by Jean as she didn't want any harm to come to her only child.
After the disaster Scott went and got his son from his in laws and had a full blow out with his father in law because of what had happened to Jean, despite neither of them really blamed the other they both swore that neither would go over the doorstep of the other’s home again and Scott told Jean’s parents that they would never see their grandson again.

Returning to the mansion Scott slipped into depression without his wife an Ryan was seemingly raised more by Bobby and Rogue who Jean had named his godparents, when baby Jennifer Drake had been born many had seen Ryan as her older brother even though they were not actually related. When Ryan was 3 Scott met Emma Frost. Emma had managed to worm her way into Scott’s heart and ensured that he would not want anyone other than her to try and replace Jean as Ryan’s mother. However both Rogue and Bobby where sickened by her actions, even though Scott was oblivious to Emma’s actions and married her Bobby and Rogue swore Ryan to silence over the truth of what had been his early life.

Ryan was trained from an early age by Scott and Bobby in how to use his abilities in a safe way, they didn't want him to have to wear a visor or shades for the rest of his life like his father had done. However Bobby made sure that Ryan was able to work out extremely difficult strategies that Bobby had made himself because of the fact that Bobby could tell that the young Summers could easily by the next leader of the Xmen. Ryan quickly rose into the actual Xmen team that a lot of people found surprising, however he is now accepted as the new leader of the second generation of xmen (will remove if you want someone else.)
