Angel Wing stared down at the city of DC. She wanted something to do while she was here in DC, so what better to do than to check out the city from a heroes eye. Alex also wanted to check out her new Angel Wing costume as well. It looked a lot like her father, Nightwing's, the colors were black and gold, instead of the Nightwing emblem angel wings replaced the insignia on her chest. Her boots and mask was gold as well. She looked the part of a hero.
Seeing no signs of distress Angel Wing sat on the edge of the roof pulling one of her knees to her chest letting the other dangle over the edge and escaped into her thoughts. Her father finally let her join him to fight crime and the first thing he does it ship her off to Wayne Manor to work under Batman. That was just not cool! It made Alex think her father didn't trust her was all.

Sam gave a low whistle of appreciation as he surveyed the nation's capital. There were probably few other cities that were typically displayed so regularly on television but seeing it in person was something else altogether. Especially with a bird's eye view. When he was a kid, Sam never really traveled beyond Gotham City. In fact, his recent relocation to Coast City had probably been the full extent of his world travels until he had received his power ring. Now, however, his 'territory' was all of sector 2814 as decided by the Guardians of Oa. His ring now constantly scanned for threats on a global scale and his world had become a much bigger place.
He did a fly-by of the city and couldn't resist landing on the tip-top of the Washington Monument. He steadied himself with help from his ring and took a look around with a wide grin. It really was quite a sight. It occurred to him that someone flying around such a well-known land-mark might attract some attention that would be more trouble than it was worth. Sam tried to remember if there was any particular super hero that claimed DC as their personal backyard. This superhero thing was sort of new to him and he wasn't sure if it was some unspoken rule to check in with the local caped crowd when you were visiting a new town.
As if on cue, it was about then he spotted someone on a rooftop. He came to a stop and hovered in mid-air. He studied the figure perched there and tried to dredge up any superheroic types that fit the type. After a moment's effort he shrugged it off and swooped down towards her. His ring flared up and he used it as sort of a spot-light, a large beam of green-tinted light shining down on the costumed girl in the shape of the Lantern symbol.
"Uh, hey." Sam floundered. "You there. Are you a good guy or bad guy?"
Smooth, Jordan he thought wryly. His lips pressed into a thin line and he waited for an answer or an attack depending.

Alex raised her hand in the air to cover her eyes from the green spot light on her. She heard someone ask if she was a good guy or a bad guy. 'Thats kind of a weird question' she thought to herself but shrugged it off. "I'm a good guy they call me Angel Wing" Alex answered standing up on the edge careful to not fall off the building. She slowly moved her hand away as her eyes began to adjust to the light, she perferred the darkness better.
"I usually protect Gotham City though" she added trying to get a good look at the man though proved impossible seeing as he was the source of the light. She looked down and noticed the light was in the form of a symbol. Turning around to see the rest of it she noticed it was the Green Lantern symbol. "Are you the Green Lantern?" she asked skeptically though she figured this would be her best bet.

"Gotham?" He asked surprised. "I'm fr--uh, I've been there before."
Sam caught himself from giving away the personal detail. Not that it was particularly dire, as lots of people were probably from Gotham but still. He figured the more you let slip, the easier it would be to make a dire one. He relaxed a little as she replied, however as his ring silently informed him that it was most likely a truthful response. The fact that it was a sort of lie-detector at times was something he hadn't been aware of before but it was nice to know, even if it wasn't a 100% accurate.
The name sparked a memory and he took a closer look at her costume. It dredged up an image of another superhero associated with Gotham in the form of Nightwing, the protege of Batman. Either the girl in front of him had used some inspiration and artistic license or the odds were good that she was a sidekick or maybe a partner. Sam was a little more relieved than he realized, as he wasn't exactly sure what he'd have done if she'd turned out to be a supervillain or costumed criminal.
"You Gotham kids really are the world's greatest detectives, huh?" He snarked before he could catch himself. Sam cut the light and lowered himself down to the empty air in front of here so they were eye to eye. "What gave me away?"
Sam mentally got his mouth in check and softened his tone a bit as he rubbed nervously at the back of his neck. "But, uh, yeah. I guess I am now. Newly appointed Green Lantern of Sector 2814."

Alex raised and eyebrow at the snarky comment and even more when his personality just seemed to change rapidly. "Well I thought it would be odd to have Superman be glowing green so who else could it be?" she responded non chalent yet slightly sarcastic.
"But nice to meet you I guess...I'm guessing you're really new to the whole superhero gig then" Angel Wing commented allowed getting a good look at the Green Lantern. He seemed around her age, he had green eyes a comment trait among Lantern Corps members. He seemed unconfident so she figured he was very new to the superhero gig. Stepping off the ledge and away from him onto firm ground she waited for him to answer now that he could have all her attention seeing as she no longer had to worry about falling.

"Yep," He replied. A few seconds after she backed up he floated over to the side and parked himself on the ledge, too. Having just met her and everything he wasn't sure if talking to someone hanging in the air would be off-putting or another day at the park. The faint green aura that kept him aloft blinked out and he folded his arms over his chest. His eyes glanced around taking in the rooftop. The flying he had gotten used to but normally he just went over them, actually hanging around on the top of a building was a little different than even his new stranger norm.
"Glowing ring zipped into my window and started talking to me." He raised his eyebrows just under the little green mask that formed over his face. As he spoke he uncrossed his arms and began gesturing along with his speech. "Said my name and went on about how I had the 'ability to overcome great fear' and told me about the Green Lantern Corp. Asked if I wanted to join..."
Sam shrugged.
"Who'd say 'no thanks', right?" He asked of her. He took a moment to look the ring over and then glanced back to Angel Wing. "But yeah, thing is, I haven't been able to contact any other Green Lanterns. It's like they're all MIA and nobody's so much as sent me a greeting card welcoming me to the Decoder Ring Club."
The rookie Lantern scratched idly at his chin and shuffled a foot a moment before looking over her costume again. "How bout, you, 'Wing? I'm guessing sidekick or is the costume and name more of a salute to that other guy?"

Angel Wing laughed at his joke, he was sarcastic she liked that it made making friends a lot easier for her. Then she rose her eyebrow when he began asking her about her costume. It was much more boring after hearing his story but he asked so why not tell.
"I call the other guy daddy, I got into the Superhero business and I work with Batman right now instead of Nightwing" She answered figuring that telling him Nightwing was her father wasn't a big deal there were a lot of family members who went to work with superhero parents, siblings, cousin etc.Besides it wasn't like she said their secret identities or anything like that.
"Though I have to say my stardom into the family business wasn't as welcoming either, I start fighting crime and he sends me away sad aint it?" Angel Wing asked non chalantly not really caring about his answer she understood her father's reasons to send her away and she accepted them....sort of.

"I could make a joke with that answer but I'll just go ahead and take it at face value." Sam said dryly with a hint of a smirk. He glanced out over the city and at the well-lit dome of the Capitol building. For a moment, he considered chiming in over his own relation to the more established hero that carried the name. However, since he'd never even met the guy it was really a whole can of worms he didn't want to get into with someone he just met, superhero or not.
"Sort of a family tradition, huh?" His head cocked to the side as he considered the matter. "Workin' with the Bat, I mean."
"But, hey, that's kind of a big deal, right? I mean he's one of the legends. One of the top dogs in this whole funny pajamas game." He lifted his ring and made a miniature mock 'bat-signal' with the beam of light which he shined around the rooftop. After a few seconds of that it turned into a sort of holographic picture of the Caped Crusader before Sam finally just shined the green light on his face as one tended to do when telling ghost stories.
"I mean, if he sent you to the guy that taught him, maybe he's just skipping your training wheels and sendin' you to the best. Some kids get Yale or Harvard, you get Bat Academy." He suggested with a shrug. A thought struck him and he paused arching an eyebrow, "Or is it one of those 'don't come home until you get this superhero nonsense out of your system, young lady' sort of situations?"

Angel Wing laughed at his comments then smiled in awe at the pictures he made with his ring. Then finally shrugged at his last comment. "To be honest I'm not sure he never really wanted me to be a hero he still thinks of me as his little girl I guess" Angel Wing shrugged again looking at the buildings of DC. There was a lot of history in this city you could tell by it's importance to the people of America.
"But working with the Bat is okay I guess you just have to deal with all the crazies escaping from Arkham to strike their revenge against you" She said nonchalantly. Yet she shivered at the thought of Arkham, she had been there a few times and that placed scared her. There was just a thousand crazies watching you greedily, most filled with hatred for looking up or just by the way you looked.

"Easy enough fix," Sam replied with interest. He threw a few punches into the air by way of driving the point home. "Just kick some big time baddies around and show your dad that you've ditched the pigtails and ponies."
"Best way to prove to him that you know what you're doing and you're not just playing dress up." The statement came with a firm nod. At the next part of what she said though, he grew more serious. He waved a hand in a 'no thanks' sort of dismissive gesture. Having grown up in Gotham he was well aware of the psycho crowd that called that town home. He'd always wondered if it was something in the water or if the crazies were just drawn to the place for some other reason.
"Don't envy your rogue's gallery," Lantern admitted freely. "I've got the whole 'space cop' thing going on so it's mostly y'know, stopping ET's evil twin from selling lightsabers to the Mafia or rescuing rednecks from UFOs. The ring tells me we got our share of crazies but it's, y'know, space crazies. It's a little less creepy when they're not human, I guess."
"Except maybe the Sinestro Corp and some of those types, they're a little spooky."

Angel Wing laughed at his jokes that were all sci-fi movie related it made her feel a little better. "I'll take your advice....so are you anything at all the men in Black? you cant zap me with some mind erasing thing right? cause if you do and I find out Im so kicking your lantern butt back to space" Angel threatened jokingly. She doubted that he did have that ability but it was always nice to joke around from time to time it was something the Batman family seriously lacked.
The batman family such a lively bunch. Please note sarcasm well Robin and Batgirl weren't so bad it was mostly Batman. He has this diesease where he's allergic to smiling was Angel's opinion anyway.

"Hey, I wouldn't put it past this thing." Lantern said warningly, eyeballing the ring on his finger with some degree of suspicion. "It's like a Swiss Army Knife crossed with a smart phone with a little Back to the Future action thrown in for spice."
Honestly, he wasn't entirely joking. The thing seemed to be able to do just about whatever he wanted but he wasn't really sure what that included. Typically, he could ask ask it if it could do something and then gave it a whirl. He somehow doubted that it could erase minds though, fun as that could be it would also be a bit creepy. Sam wasn't sure he wanted to be able to do that to people.
"But, hey, I'm pretty sure it can tap into Will Smith's phone or take a peek into his computer." He joked with a grin.
His shoulders rolled in another shrug and he shook his head while waving off the statement to put her at ease. "Typically, though Lanterns don't mess with good guys and if we do play MIB, it's to keep alien technology from influencing Earth's natural development."

Angel Wing nodded at his explanation. It made sense but it still sounded like something out of a science fiction movie. But then she started to wonder about all the other Alien heroes she knew and wondered if the Lantern had any affect on their lives, like the super girls and their dad, the martian family and etc. But he said he was a good guy and Wing believed him.
"I'm guessing this is a full time job for you huh?" Alex asked. She considered hers to be a part time Job since she only came out at night. It was the thing that the Batman family does best, the night gave them protection, security it was their element.
