She had just an hour’s time before been playing in the backyard with her unbreakable toys. The ones that her father had the people at S.T.A.R. Labs laced her toys with Kyrptonite just so she wouldn’t be able to break them but not enough to make her ill or dampen her powers any when not playing with them. She was of course playing house with her dolls, when she suddenly had gotten bored with playing with her toys by herself. Her mother was busy talking on the phone in the kitchen, and she quietly set her toys down before taking off. She knew she wasn’t allowed to go off by herself like this, but it was just too fun not to take a trip halfway across the world on her own. She figured her mother had heard her take off or saw her blur or something, but she really didn’t care. She had fun. She couldn’t help the smile on her face as she walked the few blocks home, hoping that she would convince Mom and Dad that she had taken a stroll instead of an unscheduled flight. They always seemed to worry more when she flies than if she walked, but being a ten year old kid she wasn’t quite bright enough to fool her parents. She forgot about her hair, and how windblown it was. That was until she saw her parents waiting for her outside by the front door, her father in his hero costume, and she paused as she saw them. They didn’t look to happy, as they saw her. She swallowed, knowing she was caught. She walked up to them and smiled her smile that usually got her out of trouble. ”Hi Daddy. And before you or Mommy start, I got…bored playing with my toys. I know I’m not allowed to go flying on my own, but I didn’t stop anywhere. I promise.” She said before they could say anything. She readied herself for any punishment they may throw at her. Cat’s father only looked down at her for the longest moment and then sighed as he came to a conclusion. ”Cat, go play a bit more in the backyard. I have to discuss something with your mother.” He told her before disappearing inside the house with her mom right behind him. She sighed and literally zoomed to the backyard to continue playing with her toys. She thought that she was safe there, and no one would be able to approach her with her ever watchful parents just a shout away. |
